PLAVAY

Category: The local grape varieties

It is an ancient clone of Moldova. It is grown widely in Moldova and the Ukraine. It is grown in scientific collections in Azerbaijan. In Ganja, assistant professor Solmaz Hasanova has thoroughly investigated this sort.
Bushes grow strongly.
Flowers are self-pollinated. Cluster is medium large, small and large too, cylindrical and weak cone shaped, very thick. Cluster stalk is short. Seeds are medium large and round. Seeds lose their main shape because of the cluster's density which acquires variety of forms. It is light green and covered with thick wax layer. Skin is gentle and brakes easily. Languid is very juicy (watery). Taste is ordinary, pleasant sweet and fragrant. When the load is normal in bushes, sugar increases up to 19-20 percent. Productivity is very high. It produces simple, light fresh table grapes and grape juice in favorable conditions. Brandy is also produced from Plavay.

PARKENT

It is the Uzbek sort cultivated in the foot of the mountainous vineyards of Tashkent province. It was grown in neighboring countries in grape collections of Uzbekistan and in the 50s of the last century in the sovkhoz Ingilab of Khachmaz district in Azerbaijan.
Bushes are enough strong.
Flowers get pollinated themselves. Clusters are big sized (40 sm), upper pads are strong, cylindrical cone shaped, in medium density. Seeds are big, form is changeable from round to oval, raspberry is red, is covered with purple wax layer. Skin is thick and not firm. Languid is juicy. Its taste is ordinary, normally sweet. Seeds of the drops resemble number eight. When seed get dry they become cone shaped.
Parkent is late ripening table sort. Productivity is not high. The number of clusters in the bush is little enough big.

UZBEK MUSCAT

It is gained by cross pollination of the sorts Katta-Kurgan and Alexandrian Muscat at the Middle Asian Experimental Station of All-Union Plant Institute.
At present, it is cultivated in the vineyards of several countries. It was cultivated in the grape collections of Govlar-Sari agricultural experimental enterprise of the Azerbaijan Agricultural Institute in 1969. That collection functioned until the 90s of the last century.
Bushes are strong.
Flowers are self -pollinated. Clusters are big, wide cone shaped and big padded, far-between. Seeds are very big, a bit widened at the tip, weak oval, greenish white, in the sun it is yellow spotted and of beautiful brown color. Skin is thick and rough. Languid is fleshy and juicy. Taste is of strong Muscat, sweet.
It is medium late ripening table grape with Muscat flavor. It is good for long preservation, and shippable.

OVAL KISHMISHI (White & pink)

Oval Kishmishi is one of the ancient clones of the world. Its home is Asia � Iran, Turkey, Palestine, Syria and some other countries. The clone takes the first place among the clones that cultivated in Uzbekistan. It is wisely cultivated in Nakhchivan, many other regions of Azerbaijan including Jalilabad.
Bushes grow rapidly.
Flowers are self-pollinated. Cluster is medium large and large, cylindrical, cone-shaped, burdock-like, and medium, dense. Seeds are little, round pressed, pale green and pale yellow when over ripen. Skin is gentle, languid is smooth gentle. Taste is ordinary, pleasantly fragrant. It is a medium late ripening table grape. Shown features are characteristic for both types but pink kishmish cluster is winged and large. White kishmish cluster stalk gets firm but in pink kishmish they don't get firm. While ripening, white kishmish gets dark color, in pink kishmish dark pink color is stable.

NIMRANG

Category: The local grape varieties

It is regarded as one of the valuable clone of Middle Asia table grapes. It is planted in all republics of Middle Asia and in some grape collections of winegrowing regions of the world. It has widely been grown in Azerbaijan grape collections in 50s of the last century in Ingilab sovkhoz of Khachmaz region. It was brought from Yalta to Tartar region of Azerbaijan in 1961 and then to Azerbaijan Agricultural Institute's grape collections in 1969.
At present, they grow it in Ganja Winegrowing and Winemaking Experimental Station.
Bushes are very strong. It likes strong forms. Flowers are of functional female type. Cluster is big and very big (4 kilograms in Uzbekistan, 2 kilograms in Tartar region), wide cone shaped with burdocks and branchy, sometimes very rare or medium dense. Seeds are big, round or weak oval; some seeds can be with straight round edge, weak pink with greenish white. Half of the seed is weak pink. Skin is rough and firm. Languid is firm, flesh is crispy. Taste is harmonious, sweet and fragrant.
Clone is late ripening and grows well in hot climate. It ripens in Ganja and Tartar at the end of September.

NAIL

The sort was created by us by means of selection in 1988. It was given to state sort experimenting center in 2002.
Absolutely new signs have been discovered in the branching of shoots. Shoots incline to branching in dichotomic way. Only in some bushes about 50-70 percent of dichotomic branching is observed. Branching dichotomically both the spurs develop independently yielding 2-3 clusters. Besides this different shoots grow with complicated stuff including about 9 organs (shoot, leaf and cluster). Other clone shoots rarely have double clusters. Nail has 2-4 clusters in one stalk. Twin clusters appear on one stalk. On separate single shoots there are usually 6-8 clusters.
Bushes grow rapidly. Flowers are self-pollinated. Clusters are medium big, cylindrical cone shaped winged and paddled. Stalk is not very long and gets less firm. Seeds are medium big, oval, sometimes longish round, light green but when the weight of bush is normal is light yellow. Languid is fleshy juicy, sometimes very juicy. Taste is ordinary, wax layer is weak. When kept for a long time on bushes the color of the seeds obtain a wonderful color.
It is late ripening and technical sort. Fruit finger is more than two. Prolific shoots are more than 80 percent, in young grape vines 90-95 percent. Certainly these factors decrease if the grape vine is old. It has high productivity. When all the flower groups are kept in the bush, seeds don't grow well. That's why flower groups should be thinned out when they are in blossom. It produces 30-40 tons of harvest. When the seeds are fully ripen, it contains17-18 percent of sugar.
Nail is perspective for growing in hot and warm regions of republic.

MUSCAT OTTONEL

It is of French origin. It is widely spread in Hungary, Ukraine and Moldavia. It was brought to Azerbaijan in the 70s of XX century. There were 9-10 hectares of vineyard of this sort in the Experimental Enterprise of Azerbaijan Agricultural Academy. Now, is comprehensively studied by associate professor Javanshir Allahverdiyev in Ganja.
It grows normally. Fruit coefficient is between 1.8-2 points. Main, additional and odd shoots are productive. From this point of view, the sort can be cut with machines.
Flowers are self-pollinated.
Clusters are tiny or normal. They are cylindrical or cylindrical cone shaped.
They are very thick. Seeds are normal and round. It is amber colored in the sun. Skin is thick. Languid is very juicy, sometimes mucous with Muscat flavor.
It is introduced as a table grape in ampelography, but in Azerbaijan, it is considered to be a technical sort.
Sugar is 18-21 percent, but when it is kept in the bush for a long time, it reaches 25,5 percent.
The Muscat Ottonel table wines are not of proper quality. But dessert wines have high quality indices for their golden color, flower smell and strong Muscat taste and tenderness.

MUSCAT (API)

It was produced as a result of pollination of White Muskat & Hamburg Muskat in the Middle Asia experimental station of All-Union Plantation Institute.
Bushes grow rapidly.
Flowers are self-pollinated. Cluster is large, cylindrical, medium thick & thick. Stalk is medium long, firm. Seeds are round, medium dark red. Skin is firm. Languid is fleshy, juicy. Taste is harmonious, pleasing and of strong Muscat flavor. Highly productive, yields 25 tons from a hectare.
As the quantity of unopened buds are plenty in the stalk, the fruit shoots must be cut longer.
In full ripening of seeds, sugar is 30 percent. In the Middle Asian Experimental Station, high quality, pleasant, Muscat smelling dessert wines are produced.

MTSVANE KAKHETINSKI

It is one the most ancient and valuable grape clones of Georgia. It is called Mtsvane Kakhetinski because there are a lot of clones named Mtsvane in regions of Georgia. Clone sowings are especially situated in Alazan valley. It has been grown in the west part of Azerbaijan and has been growing in rare winegrowing areas at present. It is of medium growth.
Flowers are self-pollinated. Cluster is medium big, oval, seeds are light green. Skin is medium thick but isn't firm. Languid is smoothing, juicy. Taste is ordinary, but very harmonious and gentle. Productivity is medium. Cluster is very rare because it looses flowers after blossom.
It is in the second place for frost-resistance after Mitsvani Rkasiteli. Relevantly tolerable against Filoksera. Mtsvane has ability of high sugar gathering. Alongside with high sugar gathering, sourness isn't low. In Georgia, excellent white table wines are produced of this sort. When these wines are kept for a long time, strong race of wine is gained. During the late harvest, Mtsvane Kakhetinsky can give strong wine of white portvein type.

MORESQON

Category: The local grape varieties

It was met in Corsica, but motherland is unknown. The sort was brought from Corsica to Bordo department of France, and then to the Crimea and Novocherkassk. I 1969, it was brought from Novocherkassk to Agricultural Experimental Enterprise Govlar-Sari of the Azerbaijan Agricultural Institute.
Bushes are very strong.
Themselves pollinate flowers.
Cluster is very big, cone shaped, mostly thick. Seeds are round big, pressed from 3 sides. Purple dark red, has got weak-wax layer, skin is medium and elastic. Languid is fleshy and juicy. Taste is ordinary and pleasant. Not sensitive to deceases. It is a late ripening wine sort.
